Hello Sunbeamers! Welcome back to the News Page. I feel it has been far too long - our sincerest apologies for the delay. ‘News’ happens fast around here, and it seems we could almost do a daily update if we weren’t as busy as we always seem to be! Here’s a quick catch up…

Although we never really completely close down, we do have quieter shoulder seasons. Now that (Canadian) thanksgiving is past, with cooler temperatures upon us - although this week’s weather would make a liar out of me - and with the lake closed to the majority of all species, we are now in that shoulder season prior to ice fishing starting up in the New Year. We have been working very hard, not only to get things closed up where needed, but also to complete projects while we still have the weather to get them done.

The boats are all out of the water at this point and have been fully serviced. We did a full exterior cleaning with a special marine chemical, a LOT of scrubbing, and pressure washing at completion. We are now currently painting the interior of all boats, working around the weather and taking advantage of warm enough temperatures. The painting is in fact far more difficult then anticipated, with leaves & pine needles falling from the trees - sticking in the paint continuously - plus the wind creating the need for continuous cleanup by blowing paint off the brushes & rollers! We will persevere though!

You could watch some of this unfold live if you want a little daily entertainment while watching our webcam. I’m not sure how exciting this would be actually, as it is (literally) watching paint dry :) But the lake is beautiful to see!!

We just purchased all new flooring for #27 cottage, (living room, kitchen, and all three bedrooms) and will install this as soon as the availability allows. We have also purchased enough white pine to do all of the walls in cottage #29 (main room area) so it matches the other 3-bedroom cottages that are all done in pine as well. Availability will also determine when we can sneak this one in.

We are still planting grass in a few new areas, as well as putting new seed & topsoil in areas that take a lot of traffic over the season, to help regrowth - and we’ll do it all over again next year! :) We have also brought in an enormous amount of A gravel to fill ruts and (attempt) to direct drainage away from areas that are prone to washouts. This is a continuous challenge that we will always have to address year after year.

We have painted the flooring in the front office as well as the fish hut, and re-stained the Upper Deck. The trampoline is out of the water, as are the stairs on the Big Deck (that lead to the water)…nothing like a late October swim to take care of these duties. Brrr!

There will be a full season news recap coming in mid-February as usual. Depending on when you stayed with us, some of it will be ‘new’ news, some will be ‘known’ news, however none will be ‘fake’ news!! Lastly, we’ve had a good number of inquires for next year, with many asking about the availability calendar on our website for the 2027 season. Now that the main season has concluded, this will be ‘live’ in the coming weeks for you to reference. You'll be able to check it out soon on the Availability page of the website.

Thanks for taking the time for a quick read. See you in February for a detailed season recap. Thank you all for your support and a (very early) ‘Happy Holidays’ to you all.

Darren & Sarah
