Welcome back to another season at 'The Beam’!!

It’s been a wonderful Spring opening and we’re looking forward to a great season through the months ahead. We have been working very hard to get the resort ready to welcome you, and we’re in good shape!

It has been a cooler than usual spring, with a lot of precipitation, as well as very high water levels, which are currently still high. We are not unhappy when we have more water rather than less when it comes to the lake levels, however these continuing substantial levels have been creating challenges for our docking facilities. We currently have fifty x 50 gallon barrels on the docks to hold them down, weighing in excess of 20,000 pounds! For the most part they are holding up very well and we will win this battle. It looks like there will be warmer days ahead (always welcome), and enough precipitation in the forecast to satisfy our needs!

The dredging was a success over the winter - despite being redundant at this point with this amount of water :) - and the raising & widening of the rock wall has more than likely already paid for itself as it has provided a greater degree of protection from the high water surge. We have a ton of new grass seed down, plants planted, and the trees have started to fill in, making for some beautiful colours around here.

We are happy to announce that our webcam is finally ‘live’ with a beautiful view from all the way up on our Upper Deck. This can be viewed either on your computer, or on mobile devices, right from our home page by clicking the ‘waterfront webcam’ button link.

The development next door is in full swing, and, as it stands, not as intrusive as we thought it would be. Once this is complete and landscaped, it will be a beautiful addition to the town of Callander.

The fishing season is off to a strong start despite the high water levels, and the spawning season looks very promising from what we have been hearing. Most guests have started with minnows as bait this year due to the colder water temperatures. That will eventually transition into using worms in the coming weeks as the season progresses.

The bed replacements in cottages #3, #4, #23, #24, #26 & #27 have all been completed (as per the last update indicating that this was going to happen this spring), to go along with the ones done last year. We strive to make sure everyone enjoys the best comfort possible for a good night’s sleep!

Thanks for visiting the News page!  We will post another update at the conclusion of the spring season in late June.
