Welcome back to the news page, everyone!

We’re pretty much into the winter season now that we’re into December, and we just wanted to share some news from The Beam, as it has been a while!

We will have a more detailed season recap, as well as some news for the upcoming season, in the annual newsletter we send out in February, so please stay tuned for that. For those of you on our mailing list, you will receive a paper copy as usual. For those who are no longer on the list, or are looking to come to Sunbeam for the first time, the recap will be posted on this News Page as soon as it is ready! Either way – it will be accessible to all.

We had a great fall season, (thanks to all who stayed with us) and took great care closing things up for the season in order to be fully prepared and organized for when it’s time for the new season start up! We had some very cold early November temperatures that posed a challenge for the non-winterized cottages that were still being used, as well as for the few boats we still had in the water for the die hard Pike & Muskie fishermen. However, we managed to persevere, and now have everything nicely buttoned up for the winter season ahead.

We are continuing with the replacement of all beds in the year-round cottages, as they get the most usage; cottages #28 & #29 were already done last spring. We replaced all six beds in cottage #23 while we had a bit of a window in between guests, and we just completed new flooring in all three bedrooms there. We will complete all bed replacements in cottages #4, #24, #26 & #27 this spring.

Ice fishing season is approaching quickly, (or perhaps has already started, depending on when you read this message). Please give us a call to book!

The spring season is right around the corner as well. There are still some great options to be had, however dates are filling up quickly. The exact availability can be viewed on the availability calendar on our website here, or you are always welcome to call us direct anytime.

Big News, (however not 100% confirmed until our permits are approved), is that we plan to dredge the marina, and the outside areas leading to the entrance ways of the marina this winter. This is a huge undertaking, involving numerous permits, machinery and significant cost. Because the lake levels in Nipissing can be unpredictable at times, with the fall season level always being very low due to the fact that water is routinely let out to prepare for winter, we feel we must do this to improve our docking system and to ensure its future longevity. More on this will follow, either on this News Page, or the seasonal letter mentioned above.

Happy Holidays everyone!  We’ll have an update early in the new year.

Darren & Sarah
