Heading into Summer

Happy Summer, Sunbeamers!!

With our spring season coming to an end, and our summer season only days away, we just wanted to share some news from the Beam.

First, what a spring it was! We really appreciate the guests that we’ve had to date- (make sure you check out the fishing photo gallery on the Photos page for some of their catches!). The weather was fair, with some typical Northern Ontario spring days but sunny and warm for others, and the fishing was beyond excellent! Let’s hope this trend continues into the summer months ahead.

By the way, we’ll kick off the first full month of the summer season on July 1st with some Canada Day Celebrations down at the dock, where we will host a late afternoon BBQ and some live music! Fingers crossed for good weather!

Meanwhile... here are some updates from our Spring work on cottages and grounds:

We planted some grass in new areas this spring to give the grounds some additional colour, keep the dust down, and also to help divert water.  We also have more plants than we have ever had before which simply beautify the grounds that much more.

We put a new couch and accent chair in #2 cottage (nice comfortable pull-out mattress on this couch), as well as a new high top queen mattress in the bedroom.  We also added brand new mattress & box spring sets in cottages #28 & #29 just prior to opening in May for the spring season.

We added a brand new (waterproof) ping-pong table this spring, to go along with new badminton equipment for the now grass-covered badminton court. We also ordered 40 new, bright red patio umbrellas to replace all of the ones from last year…(no matter what you do, the sun will always fade them over time!)

Down at the beach & dock area we are in the process of staining the new Upper Deck, which really brings out the beauty in the wood. This deck was built over the spring of last year, so for those of you who did not stay with us this past season, or were here earlier in the spring and only saw it as it was being built, you will see a very nice upgrade to our waterfront.

We have also added a new, very large ‘floaty mat’ at the beach to go along with the water trampoline, and all of the other beach amenities.  More ways to have fun!

And, ‘by popular demand’ we have just added an additional transom-mount trolling motor as an upgrade option to our fleet of boats. The trolling motors are a very nice upgrade, and are in high demand on certain weeks.  This now gives another guest the opportunity to secure one for any dates that are currently sold out.
